Louweazal

Always a pleasure to catch up with Lou from Louweazal Surfboards, here are a few shots on 35mm from Sandy Bay this week, not only is Lou riding a little Twin Keel Fish but she shaped it herself, one of only a handful of female surfer/shapers, Lou is a great supporter of TCFF and it is always great to she her surfcrafts on display at The Cove every year, Mike C.

I was luckily gifted this little NZ Twinnie, so stoked, I will find out a bit more info and post it soon, this may have to be put on the grass at The Cove at next year's TCFF 2020!, thanks Grunta, love it, Mike C.

It was great to catch up with Thomas Bauer at this year's Fry with his beautiful Hollow Wooden Surfboards, hours of work with fantastic end results, well done mate, thanks for coming along again, see you next year, Mike C.

2016 raffle TCFF

This year's The Cove Fish Fry raffle is a beautifully handcrafted Handplane by Jamie Gallant and Christian Druery from Adventure for Good, tickets are $5 and will be available on the day at this year's FRY at Waipu Cove on the 13th of March, all profits from the raffle will go to Adventure for Good, a registered charitable trust also a growing electric bike network and maritime carpentry school currently operational in Russell at 22 York Street, so cool to have Jamie on board, Mike C.

finless future

Roger Hall of Surfline Custom Surfboards Ruakaka is still designing, shaping and refining his Double Hot Curls (finless), this is his latest, an 8'8'' version to give him more of a longboard feel, it will be interesting to see how this one develops, Mike C.

I am a sucker for a good bodysurf session and so when I heard about a limited run of 'Body Shooters' by Roger Hall at Surfline Surfboards I got very excited, Roger and Jay are building some solid Redwood classic NZ style body boards, keep ya eyes peeled for these when they are ready, Mike C.

The classic Skellerup Foamie, we have all had a rash and lost a nipple or two from using one of these in our youth, an iconic slice of NZ history, you can pick these up for a few bucks at a garage sale, just make sure the kids wear a rashie, Mike C.

A very special slice of NZ surf history will be displayed at TCFF 2015 on Sunday by Laurie Langridge, a rare McAlpine log from one of the makers of the classic NZ surf flick 'Children of the Sun', Mike C.
