what a month (or so)

What a crazy time we have had in the North, Cyclone Gabrielle moved down the North Island creating hazoc, lots of damage out on the East Coast of Northland, beach access and sanddunes wiped out. Before TC Gabrielle hit the Ruakaka Surf Day 2023 was on at Ruakaka Beach, what a fantastic event for all those involved, people with disabilities learning to surf with the help of volunteers. Around all this action there has been a few nice days with waist high peelers, above Innes and an unkown surfer make the most of it, cheers Mike C.

Surfer profile on Innes Jenkins, arguably one of Northland's best noseriders and all round nice guy has been scoring some great East Coast waves as of late, if you get the chance to see him surf you will be in for a treat, Mike C.

just north

Sandy Bay is the go to surf beach for the Whangarei area, it is located 30 mins NE of Whangarei which is about 30 mins North of Waipu, works well on a NE swell and SW is offshore there, if you are travelling from overseas or from other parts of New Zealand to attend The Cove Fish Fry you may want to travel just that bit more and check it out, above are some recent images from Sandy Bay, Mike C.
