man's best friend

I was on my way out for a surf yesterday and I ended up following Con and his dog Molly to the beach, Con Fowler is a long time surfer and board shaper and is a bit of a surfing legend in Northland NZ, it was great to catch up with him and talk about one of his boards the 'Phantom 309' named after a Tom Waits song, one of Con's favourites, Mike C.

The Cove Fish Fry is a gathering of positive and like-minded surfers and shapers sharing a day at the beach. The original format of the Fish Fry was based around the Fish surfboard but as the event has evolved and spread throughout the world it has become open to all forms of surfcraft, Fish, Logs, Hulls, Alaias, Handplanes, Mats, the list goes on. The Cove Fish Fry is a non-competitive and non-commercial event and will be held at Waipu Cove, Northland, NZ, save the date, March 2024 (date TBC) for the 9th Annual Cove Fish Fry, cheers Mike C.
